Our story

The library we wished
existed when we became parents.

Bloomkini started as a handful of book summaries, shared between exhausted new parents who missed reading. Today it's a full family library — trusted by 1.28 million readers in 142 countries. Here's how it happened, and why we're just getting started.

"We just wanted to finish a book before our daughter woke up."

— Bloomkini, founded 2021

How it began

From a kitchen table to 1.28 million bookshelves

Bloomkini began in 2021, between a half-finished parenting book and a toddler who wouldn't nap. Our founders — a children's book editor and a data scientist — kept hitting the same wall: the research on raising capable, happy kids was excellent, but it lived in 350-page books that neither of them had time to finish.

So they started distilling the best ideas into 15-minute reads. First for themselves, then for a few friends in a group chat. What began as shared summaries grew into a full library — book summaries, illustrated kids' stories, activity books and an AI reading companion — all built around one question: how do we give families back their time, without asking them to give up depth?

That question still shapes everything we ship. Every feature, every new title and every product decision at Bloomkini starts with the same test we used around that kitchen table: does this help a real family read more, argue less, and grow together?

What we stand for

Principles, not just a mission statement

These are the rules we hold ourselves to when we're choosing what to build next, and what to say no to.

Depth over hype

Every summary is condensed by editors and checked against the source material — never left to guesswork or AI hallucination.

Evidence, always

Our parenting and child-development content is reviewed by credentialed psychologists and early-childhood educators before it reaches your library.

Family-first design

From toddler-safe interfaces to parental controls, we build every feature assuming a curious kid might be holding the tablet.

Time, respected

15-minute reads, 3-minute audio, one-tap activities — because your attention is the most valuable thing your family owns.

Technology in service of people

Our AI reading assistant exists to answer real questions faster, not to replace the authors and educators behind every title.

Built to last, not to grow fast

We're a small, distributed team who reads what we publish — profitable, patient, and building for the next decade of families.

How Bloomkini works

From full-length book to family habit

The same three-step process behind every title in our library — whether it's a 400-page parenting classic or a picture book.

01

We curate and distill

Our editorial team reads full-length books, papers and expert interviews, then condenses the ideas that actually change how families live — into 15-minute reads and 3-minute audio.

02

AI makes it personal

Ask any book a question in your own words. Our AI reading assistant pulls answers straight from the source material, so you get advice that fits your exact situation.

03

Families grow together

One membership covers up to six profiles. Parents read summaries, kids read stories and do activities — and everyone's progress lives in one shared library.

Bloomkini today

Small team, real reach

We're still the same distilling-obsessed team we started as — just with a much bigger library, and a lot more families along for the ride.
